After spending a few weeks trying to figure out what to blog about, I went back to my roots and thought, gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful emotion in our lives.Often expressed as politeness, I wondered, how can we experience gratitude to the depth that it provokes change?
Even though gratitude is an abstract construct, meaning we are unable to touch it, life provides each of us the opportunity to grasp gratitude, and feel the depths of it each day. When we focus on living a life of gratitude we see the change in our life, feel the difference in our physical being, and contribute to the positive energy in the universe, thereby creating change in the world in which we live.
So where does this fit in my life? At the young age of. . . well, let’s just say I fall into the new 50 something, so technically 40, I once again took on a commitment. Much like 52weeksofgratitude, I decided to commit myself to a year developing a card line which promotes positive energy and gratitude with simplicity.
To my humbled amazement, each week when I set up my booth at the street markets, I find that this endeavor provides as much joy, happiness, and humility to me as my experience in 52weeksofgratitude. Perhaps more. When people stop by, I share the story of how Philosophy Cards grew from 52weeksofgratitude. As they look at the cards, some cry, some laugh, and many say thank you for these cards. I am humbled and often brought to the verge of tears because I touch someone’s soul. Gratitude in its purest form.
This experience rests in my being, not in my ego. At one time, I shared all these same thoughts in my journal as I journeyed to peace. I wrote my blog (although much of it sits in the cloud waiting for me to edit it!) and I shared gratitude to see where it would bring me. Today, I share philosophy: emotions, truth, funny, and personal philosophy in words through cards.
Change is difficult. Starting over is challenging, yet one of the most rewarding experiences life offers. I have blazed more paths than stamps I have in my passport. This evening I will be manning my booth at WaterFires in Providence. The excitement is building. I worked all week on card deigns and props for the booth. I love the energy this provides. I smile just thinking about it. It is a peaceful smile, the kind that represents contentment. I love keeping it new. I love waking up every morning and falling in love with life.
